Residential building
Architect: arch. Nikolina Pavlova-Alexieva
Location: 1000 Sofia, 29 Moskovska Str.
Year: 2012
Applicator: Halcedon OOD
Investor: Association of apartment owners
Category: Renovation
The building is a monument of culture and is the first residential building in Bulgaria.

The project was implemented after the plan of the architect Lazar Parashkevanov, who graduated in engineering and architecture in Prague.

It was built in the period 1927-1929, and is the first building in the country that was constructed with reinforced concrete structure.

This was imposed due to the series of devastating earthquakes in southern Bulgaria in the 20s.

New engineering technology allowed the 9-floor construction, thanks to which this building became the highest one in Sofia at the time.

For more than 80 years the facade hasn’t undergone any renovation.

Only in 2010 the start of a project for complete renovation of the facade was put into realization with Baumit products and technologies approved by the National Institute of immovable cultural heritage.

The balconies were renovated using the Beto Baumit system for concrete repair.

For the reconstruction of the facade of the building was used the Baumit putty system as per the technology for restorative construction.

The following materials were used: Baumit depth primer, Baumit Manu 4 – manually applied rough coating plaster and Baumit aligning ground coat to achieve smooth classic look.

For the selection of the top coating crucial turns to be the self-cleaning effect of the Baumit Nanopor Color paint.

This is the best solution, given the location of the building on one of the key Sofia intersections where the traffic is very busy and exhaust fumes pollute the air.

The colours on the facade were chosen as per the Baumit Life catalogue.

For the impressive lobby was used the Baumit MozaikTop finish.

The building has participated in the "Fall" season of the "Facade of the Year" completion in 2012.
