"Katarzyna Estate" is a winery of classic underground-ground type, located near Svilengrad, between Novo Selo district and Mezek village, not far from the border of Turkey.

The investor assigned the design of a complex of three complementary basic elements bound in an ensemble with a total area of over 10,000 m2.

The cellar consists of three interconnected buildings with arched smooth curves, following the shape of the terrain.

The basic principle of composition is the building to be unobtrusive and to blend in with the hill among the vineyards.

The terrain has a significant slope, which has predetermined the staggery development of the construction on three levels, where the bottom two ones are below ground.

The materials were very precisely selected to impart the high-quality vision of the building in line with the high quality wine, which is scheduled for production in the cellar.

Subsequently, the façade had to be thermally insulated and for the purpose was chosen the Baumit insulation system with of silicone coating finish.

The plastered areas are separated with reinforced concrete pilasters, lined with stone masonry upon the thermal insulation, where Baumit elements also are used.

Cornices, pilaster capitals, decorative items and framed façade openings are made of white stone from Vratsa, which achieves a perfect classic look of the ensemble.

Site construction was started in June, 2005 and the winery was opened in September, 2007, taking part in the Baumit competition "Facade of the year" Summer, 2013.
